New Lightning Alert Systems on Reservations...

The new outdoor lightning alert systems detect and warn of lightning activity within 6 miles of each Reservation...
The systems are located on Big Cypress, Brighton, Fort Pierce, Hollywood, and Immokalee Reservations. When you hear the horn alert sound, please seek shelter immediately in a safe building! The alert will stay active for 30 minutes.

If you see the strobe light flashing then the lightning alert is active and you should stay indoors. An All Clear will sound if lightning has not been detected for 30 minutes, and it is safe to resume outdoor activities. Horns are operational 7 days a week from 7am – 11pm.

  • Horn sounds Three Short blasts – Safe to Resume Outdoor Activities
